  1. Stealing the Show at Geneva 2018

The world was watching as Jaguar unveiled the new all-electric I-PACE.

    • The Geneva Motor Show is one of the biggest events in the automotive calendar, with thousands of people flocking to the Swiss city to catch a glimpse into the automotive future and marvel at the innovative technology and cutting-edge design on display.

This year at the 88th International Motor Show, Jaguar took the world by storm with the public debut of the new all-electric Jaguar I-PACE, a tailor-made XJ6, and much more.

THE ELECTRIC REVOLUTION – JAGUAR I-PACE

I-PACE has garnered plenty of attention since the concept was first revealed at the Los Angeles Motor Show two years ago. WhatCar readers voted I-PACE as their most anticipated car of 2018 and thousands tuned in from across the globe to watch the official unveiling of the production car at the Graz factory, Austria on March 1st.

Jaguar’s Director of Design, Ian Callum said: “Since revealing the I-PACE Concept in 2016 we have been counting down to this moment. The all-electric I-PACE is not only a pioneer within our business, it promises to revolutionise the industry.”

On March 6th the striking performance SUV, Jaguar’s first all-electric vehicle, turned heads once again as it took its rightful place at the Motor Show stand. With an acceleration of 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds, a range of up to 298 miles on a single battery charge and two motors generating 400PS between them, no compromise has been made to the distinctly Jaguar performance of this unique vehicle, combined with the highly-intuitive artificial intelligence to ensure ultimate convenience.

LEGACY OF THE BEAST – XJ TURNS 50

September 2018 marks 50 years since the launch of Jaguar’s legendary XJ series, our flagship saloon idolised for its dramatic combination of beauty, luxury and power.

And in celebration of the milestone, life-long Jaguar fan and Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain has lent his creativity to the design of a fully bespoke 1984 Series III Jaguar XJ6 exclusively on show at Geneva.

Nicko said: “This is my ultimate XJ – my third, and lovingly named ‘Johnny 3’. It has been a true labour of love between Jaguar Classic and myself. I’m so excited by its completion and especially to be showing it at Geneva.”

Requiring 3,500 man hours and more than 4,000 parts to be refinished, replaced or redesigned, the revival has been dubbed the ‘Greatest Hits’ XJ, as it encompasses all of Nicko’s favourite XJ features and a treasure-trove of eye-popping modifications inspired by the musician’s legacy.

      XJ ‘GREATEST HITS’ FEATURES INCLUDE

      • Leather seats hand-trimmed in Pimento Red with black piping and embossed head rests
      • Dark Grey stained Sycamore veneers on the dashboard – the preferred material for Nicko’s favourite snare drums
      • Drum kit inspired pedals finished in chrome and black
      • A custom three-spoke sports steering wheel featuring Nicko’s unique mascot – the ‘Eddie Growler’

Fitted with an original 4.2-litre straight six XK engine and a three-speed automatic gearbox the vehicle has been amended to left-hand drive for Nicko’s ultimate driving convenience at his homebase of Florida, USA.

“It really is a Greatest Hits edition and to me it defines what the Jaguar XJ is all about,” said Nicko.

“It’s a credit to the craftsmanship of the Jaguar Classic team. We couldn’t have timed it better, this being the 50th anniversary of XJ – my favourite of all Jaguars.”
