As the streetlights flicker to life around 4pm and the nights draw in, venturing beyond the homestead may take a little more motivation.
To most, resuming to GMT at the start of winter signifies an extra hour in bed or the quiet onset of dark mornings and short evenings. And while we can scorn its inconvenience, winter offers a unique beauty, asking to be explored.
With a host of weather-adapted features, Jaguar F-PACE gives you the licence to embrace the great outdoors and see it for yourself. What better way to enjoy it than in the performance SUV Jaguar’s Director of Design Ian Callum describes as: “the perfect car to enjoy a cold winter drive through our beautiful British countryside.”
"JAGUAR F-PACE GIVES YOU THE LICENCE TO EMBRACE THE GREAT OUTDOORS"
Having endured 250,000 test drives and pushed to the limit in weather extremes from -40°C in Arjeplog, Sweden to the sweltering 55°C sands of Dubai, F-PACE has experienced everything the world’s roads can throw at it.
Each detail has been honed accordingly, fine-tuned to Jaguar perfection, to create a vehicle ready and raring for all seasons and with winter fully upon us, now it’s your turn to put F-PACE to the test.
Unique algorithms impose the strain and stress equivalent to 155,000 miles or 10 years of driving.
-40°C in a cold climate chamber ensures that when F-PACE is in freezing conditions everything on the inside is working for your total comfort.
F-PACE is put to the test in the hot room where temperatures can reach up to 55°C, wind speeds soar up to 150mph and road speeds of 155mph are created.
The Monsoon Chamber drenches F-PACE to check the inside stays completely dry and waterproofed.
This neutral sound room is where F-PACE is made to sound like a true Jaguar with its distinctive exhaust note.
At the end of the production line every car is scrutinised by the human eye as part of thorough inspections by expert quality inspectors.
Banish the ritual of leaving your car’s engine running while parked on the drive to thaw through the cold — F-PACE’s InControl Infotainment System comes equipped with the Remote Premium app — allowing you pre-condition the climate of your cabin from the warmth of indoors.
What greater indulgence than picking your own temperature sweet spot?
The Remote Premium app even allows you to lock and unlock the car from indoors, ideal for you and your passengers when a quick dash to the refuge of the cabin in chilly temperatures is required. F-PACE’s optional heated steering wheel provides warmth throughout the full wheel loop rather than isolated to the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions – removing the need to rummage around the house for a matching pair of gloves.
Plus, as part of the optional Cold Climate Pack you can also have a choice of a heated front windscreen and heated front and rear seats with a choice of three temperature settings for added warmth and comfort.
Nothing makes a long journey on a cold morning more comfortable than a steaming mug of tea or coffee, and F-PACE is available with the Centre Armrest Chiller and Warmer accessory to store drinks or food, sitting snug in the middle of the rear seats. With a leather covered top, it is held in place by the centre seat belt and can chill food and drink to around 3°C (20 degrees below ambient temperature) and heat up to 65°C.
"F-PACE HAS EXPERIENCED EVERYTHING THE WORLD’S ROADS CAN THROW AT IT"
F-PACE’s all-season capability extends far beyond the interior details, and the vehicle’s performance in harsher conditions is really what defines its excellence.
The optional Adaptive Surface Response* technology uses hyper-intelligent sensors positioned on F-PACE to calculate the grip levels on slippery surfaces such as ice, snow or wet grass, all before you’ve even turned the wheel. Identifying surface terrain allows the car to exploit the maximum grip available, while the pull-away function helps you creep away from standstill when you’re on the ice to avoid over or understeering.
F-PACE’s all wheel drive system goes one step further to support you in the most extreme weather conditions. Giving you increased confidence and control, the transfer case at the back of the transmission can shift the torque between the front and rear wheels for maximum traction on slippery surfaces.
In extreme conditions where only the front wheels have movement, say if you’re blocked in by snow, up to 100% of the engine torque can be distributed to the front for optimum grip.
"THE VEHICLE’S PERFORMANCE IN HARSHER CONDITIONS IS REALLY WHAT DEFINES ITS EXCELLENCE"
When you can’t rely on the British weather, you can certainly rely on F-PACE. At each part of its rigorous development, F-PACE was drenched in a ‘Monsoon Chamber’, part of our UK testing facilities. Tested for water management and dispersal along the body and windows you can rest assured that whatever the weather throws at you, F-PACE won’t be perturbed and the inside will remain dry and outside, corrosion free.
Even in the dark F-PACE is instantly noticeable thanks to its optional Adaptive LED headlights with Jaguar’s signature ‘J’ Blade Daytime Running Lights. Inbuilt technology enables the lights to illuminate the road ahead of you with an intensity of light close to daylight, making road markings and signs more visible for safer driving and helping you to focus on the road ahead.
