  • A: Electric vehicles offer a spacious, more refined drive and the convenience of being able to charge at home.

    As electricity supplies are increasingly delivered from renewable sources, electric vehicles offer environmental benefits over vehicles with fuel-burning combustion engines. And, as they produce zero tailpipe emissions, electric vehicles can also help reduce air pollution.

    These and other benefits are increasingly being recognised by local and national governments. A range of incentives are available to encourage drivers to purchase an electric vehicle. Further details are available on the Electric Vehicle Incentives page.
  • A: I-PACE is a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), which means it doesn’t have a combustion engine. Instead of burning fuel (petrol or diesel), power is supplied to two electric motors in the form of electricity stored in a rechargeable battery.

    Other types of electric vehicles include Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). These refer to vehicles that combine a combustion engine with an electric motor.

    A HEV typically has a small battery that is charged by the engine and regenerative braking. The vehicle has a very small electric-only range.

    A PHEV can also be charged from an external source of electricity. A PHEV typically has a larger battery and longer range than a HEV.
  • A: The range of an electric vehicle (the distance that can be travelled before having to recharge the battery) has traditionally been a concern, giving rise to the term ‘range anxiety’. However, the latest developments in battery technologies mean that vehicles such as Jaguar I-PACE are now a realistic proposition for most people. Many owners will find that they only need to charge Jaguar I-PACE once a week. 

    For long distance journeys, a stop may be necessary to charge the battery. This may require some advanced planning, but with over 5,000 charging locations* already compatible with Jaguar I-PACE, finding a convenient public charge continues to become easier.
  • A: Motor manufacturers are working with governments and energy providers to ensure that increases in electric vehicle usage do not cause issues with electricity networks.
  • A: Each Jaguar Retailer has an EV Specialist who can answer all your questions about I-PACE and electric cars more generally.




  • A: Range will not be an issue for most drivers. Jaguar I-PACE has a range of up to 292miles on the WLTP** (Worldwide harmonised Light vehicle Test Procedure) cycle, meaning that, based on the average commute, many owners will only need to charge once a week.
  • A: Range can be affected by a number of factors, including external temperature, operating the heating or cooling systems and the speed at which you are driving.
  • A: The range prediction for Jaguar I-PACE is designed to be extremely accurate. The electric motor control module will make predictions based on your current driving style and the last 500 miles’ average usage. The navigation system will assist the prediction of range by including data regarding the topography and speed limits of your selected route.
  • A: Just as a petroleum or diesel vehicle would stop if you run out of fuel, if the battery completely runs out of charge the vehicle will eventually stop. However, Jaguar I-PACE has a battery management system which will provide energy information as your range depletes. Where necessary, Eco Mode will be deployed, helping you to extend your range by identifying vehicle systems which can be turned off, such as Climate Control and heated windscreens.
  • A: Jaguar I-PACE features LED headlights which are incredibly energy efficient, so driving with your lights on will not make any noticeable difference to the vehicle’s range.




  • A: There are 432 cells in I-PACE’s battery. There are 36 battery modules and each module has 12 cells.
  • A: Kilowatt-hours are a measure of how much energy can be stored in a battery. For a given vehicle, a battery with greater capacity ‑ more kWh ‑ will have greater range and/or performance.
  • A: The battery assembly weighs 603kg.
  • A: I-PACE’s battery would only become flammable through misuse or outside intervention. Electric vehicle batteries are less flammable than petroleum or diesel and feature sophisticated safety systems that maintain safe temperatures.
  • A: Batteries can be stored as low as -40°C, but must be plugged in and heated to -20°C before driving. In long-lasting hot or cold temperatures an electric vehicle’s range is reduced because energy is required to keep the battery at an efficient operating temperature. Energy is also needed to warm up the cabin when the temperature is low.

    I-PACE features state-of-the-art thermal management systems to optimise battery performance in warmer or cooler temperatures.
  • A: I-PACE has an efficient thermal management system that maintains the temperature of the battery. An electric vehicle battery will, typically, be between 15°C and 30°C, which is considerably cooler than an internal combustion engine.
  • A: I-PACE’s warranty is limited to 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000km) (whichever comes first). It is redeemable in the case of any manufacturing defect or should a certified Jaguar retailer measure that the battery has dropped below a 70 percent state of health.
  • A: Electric vehicle batteries will be disposed of in line with the End of Life Vehicles Directive, relevant to regional requirements or your local market.




  • A: With a recommended Jaguar wallbox installed, a full charge can be achieved in approximately 13 hours††, allowing the I-PACE to cover a maximum range of up to 292 miles on the WLTP cycle**.
  • A: Jaguar I‑PACE’s battery is charged via the car’s plug-in charge point, which is located behind the front wheel arch. Once plugged in, you are free to leave Jaguar I‑PACE to charge. The vehicle will automatically stop charging when it reaches full charge. 

    For optimum charging at home, you can install a recommended Jaguar wall box. Jaguar I‑PACE is equipped with a 7kW single phase AC on-board charger, which can fully charge the vehicle overnight and and deliver up to 22 miles of range per hour†† . When using a domestic socket, charging rates are slower than a wall box (up to 7 miles of range per hour††), but are sufficient to cover the average daily commute of 38 miles if the vehicle is charged overnight. Industrial (IEC) sockets (or upgraded domestic sockets) can charge up to 22 miles of range per hour††.

    When away from home, the best way to get a quick top up of your battery’s charge for those long journeys is with a public DC charger – a typical 50kW charger can deliver up to 168 miles of range per hour††. As the public charging infrastructure improves, Jaguar I-PACE is equipped to accept up to a 100kW DC charge rate for improved charge time. Depending upon the service provider, public AC chargers can have a range of outputs. You can also find convenient charging points at places you may want to stay for several hours – or even overnight – including local shopping centres, hotels and gyms.

  • A: Jaguar I-PACE comes equipped with a Home Charging Cable that can be plugged directly into a domestic plug socket.

    For optimum charging at home, you can install a recommended Jaguar wallbox. Jaguar I-PACE is equipped with a 7kW single phase AC on-board charger, which can fully recharge the vehicle overnight and and deliver up to 22 miles of range per hour††. You can choose a wallbox that is equipped with its own cable (referred to as 'tethered'), or a wallbox without a cable ('untethered'). Untethered wallboxes require you to have a Public Charging Cable (also knows as a Mode 3 Charging Cable), so called because this is also the cable that you will require in order to use AC public charging stations. Every Jaguar I-PACE comes with a Public Charging Cable (Mode 3 Charging Cable) as standard.

    All rapid DC public charging points come equipped with their own cables, and so you do not require any additional equipment to use these stations.

  • A: Jaguar have recommended wall box suppliers and installers for all markets in which I-PACE is available. Our partners are available to advise upon the best solutions for you. Please consult your local Jaguar Retailer for further information.
  • A: No. If you would like to install a wall box in your home, your local Jaguar Retailer will be able to guide you through the process with our recommended wall box suppliers and installers.
  • A: Your wall box supplier will be able to provide a quote to remove your wall box and re-install it at your new home.
  • A: Yes. Our recommended wall boxes are equipped for use with the Combined Charging System (CCS) connector for AC charging and a DC charging inlet. Any electric vehicle with these connections will be able to charge using our recommended wall box.
  • A: Any Mode 3 wall box with the same charging connections as Jaguar I-PACE can be used to charge the vehicle.
  • A: Our recommended wall box suppliers are capable of installing charging solutions for a variety of homes. They will support you with regard to permissions, permits and suitability.
  • A: Not necessarily: you would need to rely upon the public charging network. With over 5,000 charging locations* already compatible with Jaguar I-PACE, there is a growing network of public charging points, with standard or fast charging points available.
  • A:The price of electricity fluctuates according to market influences. To calculate the cost for a full charge, simply multiply the rate you are charged per kWh by 90, as Jaguar I-PACE has a 90kWh battery.
  • A: Yes. Your vehicle can be charged with a current that is greater than 2 Amps or 750W.
  • A: As long as the charge point offers the same standard and connector as your vehicle, and you have an account with the charge point provider, you can use that public charging station.

    However, public charging stations owned by specific manufacturers can only be used by vehicles from that manufacturer.
  • A: An independent network of rapid vehicle chargers is developing quickly across many countries. We will ensure that all Jaguar electric vehicles are compatible with this network.
  • A: You can use Jaguar I-PACE’s in-car navigation while you are driving, or the Remote app to find charging stations before you travel.
  • A: Our vehicles are designed with a storage area for the safe transportation of all compatible charging cables.
  • A: There are two ratings available for Public Charging (Mode 3) Cables. These are 16A and 32A. Your vehicle and charging point identify which cable is attached and regulate the right amount of electrical current to charge your vehicle. Where the electrical supply allows, the 32A capability will charge faster.
  • A: The Public Charging (Mode 3) Cable locks into the vehicle inlet and remains locked until you unlock Jaguar I-PACE.
  • A: No. It is a mandatory requirement of international standards that electric vehicles cannot be driven when plugged into a charging station.
  • A: Yes. Customers and bystanders are not exposed to any risk of electric shock.
  • A: The rate of charge is limited by the chemistry and physics of lithium-ion batteries and it can take as long to charge the last 20 percent as it does to charge the first 80 percent. The final stages of charging are carefully controlled by the battery management system.
  • A: Our electric vehicles can be left unattended for at least six months, however plugging in once a month is optimal. The battery management system is electronically controlled and uses very little energy.
  • A: Destination charging refers to charging stations that can be found at local shopping centres, hotels, gyms and other destinations you may visit for extended periods of time.

    Journey charging refers to charging stations at service stations or dedicated electric vehicle charging stations, which provide the maximum charge in the shortest time.
  • A: Yes. The InControl Remote app, available for both iOS and Android, enables you to stop or start charging, manage departure times, pre-condition your vehicle, manage tariffs and set a maximum state of charge. The app also sends you notifications if charging is unexpectedly stopped.




  • A: Electric cars generate maximum torque from standstill, delivering impressive acceleration.

    The battery’s location, between the two axles, also provides a lower centre of gravity and an even weight distribution for improved handling. And, without the need to package a big engine in the front, the wheels can be positioned nearer to the outermost corners of the vehicle enhancing stability and steering feel.

    All of this enables a dynamic and responsive driving experience, which remains unmistakably Jaguar.
  • A: Electric motors consume energy to provide motion. When this motion is no longer required, for example when the vehicle is slowing, the braking force can be harnessed to reverse the action of the motor and generate electricity. The electricity generated can be fed back to the battery, extending the vehicle's range.
  • A: Jaguar I-PACE has three driver modes that can automatically adapt the vehicle settings for comfort, dynamic or eco (for range preservation).
  • A: The FIA Formula E Championship provides us with a real life, fast-track test bed for testing and perfecting electric vehicle technologies. Because of this experience, we can bring exhilarating Jaguar performance to our next generation of road cars.

**WLTP (Worldwide harmonised Light vehicle Test Procedure) is the new process that has been phased in from 2017, which measures fuel, energy consumption, range and emissions in passenger vehicles in Europe. This is designed to provide figures closer to real-world driving behaviour. It tests vehicles with optional equipment and with a more demanding test procedure and driving profile.
