XF: Relaxed, confident and luxurious
The interior of the XF is a combination of style and substance. It bristles with innovative, industry-leading features. Jaguar craftsmanship adopts a sharp new edge on the XF. Sophisticated instrumentation, a Touch-screen, modern materials and graphics complement new ´surprise and delight´ features.
|
|
Interior Trim
Attention to detail was a mantra through the XF´s development. Three trim levels offer combinations of Bond Grain leather and Softgrain leather in a subtle colour palette. The Luxury trim uses non-perforated Bond Grain leather for the seat facings with matching material for the twin needle stitched facia and door top rolls. Premium Luxury and SV8 have a sumptuous interior with Softgrain leather used throughout for seats, facia and door top rolls, while perforated Softgrain leather is used on the seat facings to support the fan-assisted heating/cooling system. Real wood underlines the luxurious interior, with veneers including Satin American Walnut, Burr Walnut and a very modern, straight-grained Rich Oak that works particularly well with the textured aluminium highlights that are used in every XF to enhance the contemporary, technical feel. Even the XF´s headlining material is a step on from conventional materials. Using a modern technical weave known as Morzine, the entire cabin roof and A-pillars of the XF are trimmed in this eye-catching, contemporary finish.

Seats
The XF´s interior design maximises the feeling of space, with driver and passenger seating positions, the relationship of seats to window areas, and the volume and versatility of stowage options all contributing to the feel. New thinking on seat design – the front seats are deliberately sculpted and reduced in size (but not comfort) – liberates space and makes access easier, too. With a rear seat width of 6´4´´ – amongst the best in class - adults can sit side by side in complete comfort. To say that luxury comes as standard on the XF is an understatement. Front seats are electrically adjustable, with a minimum of 8-way seat adjustment for the driver and front passenger, while the SV8 offers 16-way driver´s seat and 12-way passenger´s seat adjustment - with 4-way power lumbar and cushion length adjustment for the driver. The XF also introduces the option of active heated and cooled ventilated front seats (standard on SV8), with fan-assisted whole seat heating, whole seat cooling, or just squab heating or cooling. And because the XF cleverly separates seat and cabin temperature controls, it gives the option of a warm cabin with a cool seat, or vice versa.

Interior Mood Lighting
Phosphor blue mood or ´halo´ lighting echoes the ambience you might find in a contemporary bar or restaurant, or on the keypads and controls of your MP3 player or mobile phone handset. On the XF, halo illumination around the switch panels and JaguarDrive Selector™ console, the start-stop button and the Electric Parking Brake release a soft glow that indicates their positions without distracting the driver. Mood lighting is also incorporated into the header console, bathing the centre console in a cool blue light, while lights under the front door releases softly illuminate the door-mounted switches. Soft, phosphor blue illumination is also used on the instrument faces, highlighting the sporting feel of the aluminium-coloured dials.

Interior Storage
The XF´s JaguarDrive Selector™ throws off convention to set a new standard for automatic transmission control – but it also liberates space. As well as the centre cubby, which includes CD storage, an auxiliary power supply and an optional Portable Audio Interface for an iPod® or other MP3 player (depending on market), the centre console has two compartments with veneered lids. It can take a 44-ounce ´big-gulp´ cup and two more modestly sized cups plus other oddments. Without the cupholders in place there is generous oddment storage space for items such as sunglasses or spectacles in their cases. In addition to a capacious glovebox, there are large storage pockets in each door and pockets on the backs of the front seats and the rear centre armrest also incorporates two cupholders. iPod® is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc. registered in the U.S. and other countries.

Boot Capacity
|
The minimum capacity of the boot is more than 500 litres, with the possibility to add even more storage space depending on factors such as whether the space-saver spare wheel or Jaguar Tyre Repair System is fitted. At its maximum the XF´s boot capacity is 540 litres, and there is still the option to liberate a further 420 litres of space by folding down the rear seat backs.

Climate control
The XF´s climate control system is as sophisticated and as beautifully packaged as every other area of the car. It is a fully automatic system, with air particle and odour filtration, auto-recirculation , humidity control and automatic window demisting. And the dual zone system incorporates individual cabin temperature control for both driver and front passenger. But the system also introduces another Jaguar first in the way it interprets the XF´s modern design language. In the facia, it uses new rotating vents, which present a smooth, flush face when the ignition is turned off but which turn silently from their closed to a fully open position when the car is started. Once open they offer the same full airflow control functions as any other climate control vent.

JaguarSense™
|
JaguarSense™- an electronic control system that gives touch operation to open the glovebox lid and to control the overhead console lights – is another XF (and industry) first. It removes the need to search for a small switch, which can be especially useful in the dark, or when concentrating on the road.

Multi-Media System with 7 inch Full Colour Touch Screen Controls
Following Jaguar´s philosophy that simple and logical is best, at the heart of the XF´s facia a 7" Touch-screen controls most major functions, keeping many features ´invisible until needed´. The Touch-screen controls many features from the in-car audio system, TV (where fitted), the telephone operation via the integrated Bluetooth® connectivity module, navigation and climate control. This allows mechanical buttons to be reduced to a discreet panel below the navigation screen. The XF´s Portable Audio Interface option provides full function control of your iPod® or MP3 through the 7" Touch-screen. iPod® is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc. registered in the U.S. and other countries.

Audio Equipment
The XF offers three levels of audio system, again all controlled through the Touch-screen. The eight-speaker Jaguar sound system with integral in-dash 6-disc CD player, has a woofer and tweeter unit in each door – the woofer being mounted much higher than conventional systems to ensure good base reproduction. Standard on Premium Luxury and SV8 models, the Jaguar 320W premium sound system combines a powerful DSP amplifier with nine speakers, eight door-mounted premium speakers in the cabin plus a 32-litre sub-woofer for enhanced bass performance – cleverly packaged in the spare wheel well in the boot. The top-of-the-range Bowers & Wilkins 440W surround sound system and Portable Audio Interface with Digital Radio are also available as an option. Both systems include a dash-mounted 6-disc CD changer with MP3 compatibility.

Navigation System
Jaguar´s Satellite Navigation System is highly sophisticated but extremely easy to use. It is controlled from the central Touch-screen and offers full directional instructions, with signpost flagging and 2D map displays. Congestion alerts allow for re-routing, while filling stations are displayed automatically when fuel is running low. It is also fully programmable, with the ability to store up to twenty preset destinations. Tap the HOME button on the 7-inch Touch-screen for instant directions. And DVD technology means more information can be stored on a single disc, so you do not have to change discs when you cross borders. Unlike many systems, the XF´s navigation does not share a CD slot with the audio system.

Bluetooth® Telephone Connectivity
Bluetooth® technology allows mobile handsets with Bluetooth® capability to communicate with the car´s in-built telephone system, with no need for wired connections or cradles. And with Bluetooth® in the XF, mobile calls can be controlled either via the Touch-screen or made completely hands free, safely and easily, using the steering wheel controls or optional JaguarVoice™ control. Steering wheel
The XF´s steering wheel includes Jaguar Sequential Shift paddles, Cruise-Control, JaguarVoice™ (where fitted) and audio controls - including volume, and radio channel pre-sets. The source button toggles through the audio system´s AM/FM/CD modes, plus any external device functions. The select buttons allow features such as CD track change, radio channel pre-set selection or iPod® or MP3 track change if such a device is in use. iPod® is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc. registered in the U.S. and other countries.
