Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Alert
The XF´s optional Adaptive Cruise Control ( ACC) is an advanced system operated by controls on the steering wheel. It uses microwave radar technology to monitor for slower moving traffic and can alert the driver (via Forward Alert) to potential slow-moving hazards ahead. It can also control both throttle and brakes to maintain a constant time gap to the vehicle in front. And when the road ahead clears, the system automatically increases the XF´s speed to resume the level originally set by the driver. The Forward Alert provides an audible warning if traffic ahead slows down or if another vehicle moves into the lane in front. Also new on XF´s fitted with Adaptive Cruise Control ( ACC) is Electronic Brake Prefill. This senses any rapid throttle lift-off and initiates a small brake hydraulic pressure build-up in anticipation of the brakes being applied, to give better pedal response and slightly shorter stopping distances.
